What to do and where to go

The benefit of a farmstay at Sixty6 Acres Woombye is that you are only minutes from some of the best attractions on the Sunshine Coast. Woombye offers an intimate group of local shops to stock up on the essentials, as well as a village bakery, popular cafes and gift shops and an historic pub. Further down the road, Palmwoods boasts more foodie finds including the famous Ricks Garage, an American-style diner, and Asian-inspired Piggyback restaurant.

Breathe in the Hinterland

Head up the mountain range to the breathtaking towns of Mapleton, Montville, Flaxton and Maleny where there are views galore, quaint shops, high teas and national parks – well worth a Sunday drive, any day of the week.

Country hospitality

Further afield down the highway in Eudlo, you’ll find the Eudlo General Store attracts quite a buzz for their iconic pies. It’s offerings also extend to essential general store services, locally sourced produce and fresh baked goods. Chenrezig Institute, the largest Tibetan Buddhist retreat in the Western world, is also round the corner.

Dip your toe in

To burn off some calories from all that dining, there are local hikes, waterholes and falls aplenty at Kondalilla, Mapleton and Gardners Falls. Or perhaps Mary Caincross Scenic Reserve is more your pace for a leisurely stroll and picnic. Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens in Tanawah is a hidden horticultural gem, or Maleny Botanic Gardens and Birdworld can also help with your step count.

Fun & adventures

A true Sunshine Coast icon, The Big Pineapple is currently undergoing redevelopment, but visitors can still pop in for a selfie and do the Treetop Challenge course. This high ropes adventure is suspended across 10 acres of coastal rainforest with 120 high ropes terrain and 12 ziplines spanning from 20m to 140m in length.

Young & the young at heart

You don’t need to tackle the Gold Coast traffic to have fun at a theme park. Aussie World offers plenty of rides and attractions for the young and young at heart, with very affordable family prices.

Other furry friends

If you are still keen for more animal action after meeting Hank and Humphrey, Wildlife HQ is a five minute drive and a great family-friendly zoo offering at the Big Pineapple complex. A day at Australia Zoo is also only a half hour away for you to get your khaki on with the crocs.

Spoilt for beach choices

Beaches are naturally on the agenda for many when they visit the Sunshine Coast. From the farm, you can be spreading your towel in only 20 minutes on some of the best sandy shores around. Take your pick from Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Mudjimba, Coolum or even head up to Noosa.
