Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to questions you might have in advance of your stay:
Sixty6 Acres Woombye is in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. Our main entrance is clearly signed on Walden Road and entry is via a code operated gate over a cattle grid (code will be provided prior to your arrival). The northern corner of our farm is adjacent to the Bruce Highway with access from Nambour Connection Road, just down the road from the Big Pineapple.
There may be potential noise from the highway (depending on the time of day and wind direction) but all accommodation is 300m away and the highway is not visible.
Our council approvals and liquor license do not permit day visitors. When we first applied for our development application, there were around 100 objections from neighbours and the local community so Council mandated that our facilities (including our Farmhouse restaurant) are limited to overnight guests only to minimise our impact. We like this model as it makes for a more intimate farm experience for our guests who pay to stay on the farm.
We have provided four firepits around the lake exclusively for our Quarters guests, and one firepit in the Acreage. All fully serviced sites have access to two large communal firepits. We do not allow individual fires, firepits or braziers on fully serviced sites. You are welcome to bring your own firewood or we do sell 20kg bags for $15.
If guests are unable to fulfil their booking, Sixty6 Acres will make every effort to reschedule dates if sufficient notice is provided in writing, subject to availability.
Any money paid for accommodation which is put into credit due to changes will sit on the guest account and last 1 year from the cancellation date. If the credit is not used towards another booking within this time, the credit will be forfeited. There is a $30 change of booking fee that is applied.
The following notice periods apply:
More than 30 days’ written notice: Any money paid will be refunded.
Up to 14 days’ written notice: The full amount of monies paid will be put into credit for use towards a future booking based on availability. We can also reschedule your booking to another date at this time.
Under 14 days’ written notice: 100% of money paid will be forfeited.
For group bookings, with more than 6 weeks notice, any money paid will be refunded. Up to 30 days written notice, guests may change their booking date. Under 30 days written notice, 100% of money paid will be forfeited.
Sorry, we do not allow guest pets on the farm. We have free ranging animals and their biggest risk is domestic dogs. We understand most dog owners are responsible but we need to plan for those who aren’t.
For registered assistance animals, we have a policy in place including an identification procedure and Visitor Site Entry Declaration and Agreement for Assistance Animals. Health and safety for our own animals is however paramount and we insist on appropriate behaviour from assistance animals at all times. This includes adhering to our expected behaviour policy and dogs will not be permitted entry if they are:
• Pulling on the lead
• Not responding to commands
• Lunging at food
• Jumping or lunging at people or other animals
• Snarling, growling or barking
• Unmanaged toileting
Our Farmhouse restaurant is not open 7 days a week so it is worth checking before your stay. Note the Farmhouse restaurant is for overnight guests only. During average weeks, we will open for Friday and Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfasts. Saturday morning coffee service only. We urge guests make a reservation if they plan on dining with us during their stay by emailing stay@sixty6acres.com
Free Wi-Fi is available to guests in our farm Quarters and Acreage accommodations for reasonable use such as checking emails and web browsing (unsuitable for large downloads). We also have wifi available in The Farmhouse.
We have partnered with the team at Elope Sunshine Coast to provide micro wedding packages on the farm. Please reach out to Sheryl van Heerden for more information. www.elopetosunshinecoast.com.au
All our bookings are taken through our website. This process captures lots of personal information and secure payment details. We don’t have permanent staff in our office to process bookings over the phone as we are often out and about on the farm!
Sixty6 Acres is exclusively for overnight guests. We’re not available for casual visits as our Council approval and liquor license do not allow for public access, nor does our insurance cover anyone who is not staying with us. Overnight guests have the exclusive use of our facilities, accommodation and access to our animals so it is a more intimate experience.
Our regular check-in time is 2pm for the Quarters / Acreage and 12 noon for powered sites. Check-out is 10am. Late departures and early arrival requests may be accommodated but are subject to other bookings.
The Quarters have been designed and furnished with the comfort of four people in mind – including infants – in two bedrooms (one Queen and one twin). The Acreage has three bedrooms and can sleep 6 people (two Queen and one twin). Five guests are permitted per fully serviced site – one vehicle and one van/tent (some parking at our Farmhouse). We ask that guests notify us in advance of their arrival if the numbers in their group have changed from their booking and kindly ask that you indicate the age of your children in your booking details.
Our farmstay is not approved for day visitors. To preserve the enjoyment and amenity for our guests, we are unable to host anyone not listed on the booking. If you have friends or family who would like to share in the farmstay, we are happy to arrange adjoining accommodations.
Guests who are staying with us are welcome to spend time with our furry residents – they are an integral part of your farmstay experience. Our herd are friendly but, like most animals, can be unpredictable at times, especially around food. Please do not enter any of the livestock paddocks and no hand feeding unless you have been briefed. Children must be supervised at all times. Please ask one of our team for a personal introduction if you are interested in getting up close and personal.
Our lake is fed by rainwater and natural springs and is therefore clean but visibility can be variable. There may be some algae build up on the sides which is natural and expected in a rural setting. The maximum depth of the lake is 3m and is shallower towards the sides. Only jumping please from the platform – no diving. Please be aware that the lake is unfenced and children must be supervised at all times. Please use the life vests provided while in the water. All activities are undertaken at your own risk.
We have some non-motorised watercraft available to enjoy our lake (kayaks and SUPs). These can be rented from The Farmhouse. Please be aware that the lake is unfenced and children must be supervised at all times. Please use the life vests provided while in the water. All activities are undertaken at your own risk.
ForFFor our Quarters and Acreage guests, the inside fireplace is stocked with a supply of wood, kindling and firestarters for indoor and outdoor fires – more wood can be purchased from The Farmhouse during your stay. There are two communal firepits for fully serviced sites – you are welcome to bring your own firewood for these or purchase from us (20kg for $15). No other fires are permitted on individual sites.
Golf clubs and balls are available for hire from The Farmhouse or you are welcome to bring your own. Please return all equipment when not in use.
Smoking is not permitted in or around our buildings, including decks, pools and restaurant. Please dispose of your butts thoughtfully.
We do not allow motorbikes or other motorised vehicles for the safety and tranquility of other guests. You are welcome to bring pushbikes to ride around the farm or we do have some farm bikes available from The Farmhouse. There is a 10km/hr speed limit on site for everyone’s safety.
All of our 93 campsites have power, tank water and a grey water connection.
Two-thirds of the sites are large, around 12m x 10m or larger. The remaining third are about 8m x 8m, with a buffer to the neighbouring site.
Not all sites are perfectly flat or fully grassed.
We don’t offer any unpowered or off grid sites.
Around 15 of our sites have concrete pads included.
We do not offer a high speed dedicated charging station but have 10A outdoor power at the Quarters and Acreage and 15A at powered sites. You are able to charge your EV while staying with us for $10 per night to cover the additional electricity usage. Please advise staff on check in if you intend to charge your vehicle during your stay.
